Our
History
Built By Tacoma
A Legacy of Craftsmanship & Community
Tacoma Makers Market was inspired by the history, resilience, and hardworking spirit that have shaped Tacoma for generations. Rooted in one of the city’s historic industrial districts, the market draws inspiration from North Star Glove — a Tacoma-based company producing quality American-made work gloves since 1910. Surrounded by local businesses, creators, and entrepreneurs, the vision for the market grew naturally from a desire to create a space where commerce, creativity, and community could come together in a meaningful way.
What makes Tacoma special is its balance between industry and creativity — a city built by makers, builders, artists, and small businesses that continue to shape its future every day. Tacoma Makers Market was created to reflect that same energy while providing opportunities for local vendors and entrepreneurs to grow, connect, and thrive.

More Than a Market
Tacoma Makers Market was designed to be more than a traditional vendor event. From the beginning, the goal has been to create a long-term platform that supports small business growth, strengthens community connections, and celebrates the culture and creativity of the Pacific Northwest.
Through seasonal markets, day and night events, local partnerships, and future educational programs, the market aims to create lasting opportunities for artists, food vendors, makers, and entrepreneurs throughout Tacoma. Every event is built around the idea of supporting local talent while creating experiences that bring the community together in authentic and memorable ways.
